Exact Error Message:

CA ARCserve Backup Agent Deployment:

Setup cannot retrieve system information from the target host registry.

Last error code from Windows is 5. Please consult to your network administrator.

Symptom:

If you try connecting to the remote server registry, it will connect but when you try to expand it fails with an Error Opening Key: Cannot open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE: Error while opening key.

Solution:

Recommendation:

As recommended by CA, please check the Group Membership and User Rights for that specific account. Verify if the "Remote Registry" service is running on the failed machine.

Resolution:

Start the "Remote Registry" service.

If User rights/Group Membership are modified then restart the "Remote Registry Service" for the changes to take effect.

Once the remote registry service is restarted, the agent deployment error will be taken care of.
