Sometimes, when using VMWare, the caps-lock can become out of sync or reversed from the host PC.  A quick and easy way to fix this is to use Microsoft Word.

Open Microsoft Word on the guest or host OS (whichever is currently set to caps lock ON) and type "Hello" and hit the space bar.  Since caps lock is ON, your word will look like "hELLO" as you type it, but once you hit the space bar, Word will correct the word and toggle the caps lock for you.  Now both systems will have caps lock OFF.
